An Invitation

If you are interested in getting involved with our 2010-2011 course at St Edmund's on basic biblical theology, do let Pat Hooker know and if you possibly can, come to this year's launch with refreshments at St Ed's at 7.30pm on Wednesday September 15th.

The course consists of 5 modules. Participants may choose the modules that interest them. Please tell Pat at least 4 weeks before the start date if you plan to attend. Having done so please try to make this a priority in your busy schedule!

MODULE1 What went wrong and how to put it right?
October 6th, 13th, 20th
In three sessions we look at our creation myths and the 'fall' and then see how the prophets interpreted history and current events and speculated about the future in the light of Israel's repeated failure to obey the Mosaic law.

MODULE 2 The story of Jesus
November 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, December 1st, 8th
Here we consider how the four evangelists presented the earthly life of Jesus and his resurrection and ascension, why he died, who he is and why it matters.

MODULE 3 The Christian church defines itself
January 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, February 2nd, 9th
Here we check out the formative influence of Jewish belief and practice on the emerging Christian church and watch the church growth in the early days.

MODULE 4 At one with God in prayer
March 9th, 16th, 23rd
We explore the many different forms of prayer in private and public worship. We encounter the Psalms and also the prayers of people of other faiths. There is the option of a further session opening up the latter important issue.

MODULE 5 A letter to the churches of the first and twenty first centuries
May 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th
We spend four sessions working on the epistle to the Ephesians.
