Articles - Miscellaneous
We have had a busy fun packed term. We started off the term
with a visit from Rachel (our Curate). She talked to us about her visit
to Sri Lanka with Christian Aid. This was very interesting and informative
about life in a Third World country. Rachel talked to us about the importance
of buying Fairly Traded goods.
Other activities include making hot air balloons, doing Mimes, making musical instruments to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost at Church Parade, having a joint meeting with Roundhay Methodist Cubs, bike maintenance & sense training. We also had a visit from Penny who looks after injured hedgehogs. She brought two small hedgehogs in to show us. She also talked to us about having bird boxes in our gardens to encourage birds to nest. We are selling some ready made boxes at our Harvest Fair, September 27th 2-4.30pm if you would like to buy one, or come along and have a go at making one yourself.
In June we went to Wike for our Summer camp where we concentrated our activities on the Outdoor Challenge badge. We built a pond, made shelters, did archery and orienteering, had a pillow fight, a water fight and Campfire with the Guides from St Andrew's.
Six of our older lads went to District camp and gained their Communications badge.
Unfortunately, we had to cancel our annual sports night with Gold Pack and the Beavers due to bad weather.
To end the term we had a cycle race evening at Roundhay
park.
