Manuel Bravo Project
It is always encouraging to hear good news from projects
we support. Karen Grey, the Manuel Bravo Project manager is grateful to
us for our generous donation (£228 .21) through last year's Christmas
Star Scheme and for our prayers (2008 Prayer Diary). She shares with us
now some really splendid news.
You may be pleased to hear that The Manuel Bravo Project was a Creating
Better Futures Award Winner (Yorkshire Forward) at Leeds Town Hall last
week (http://tiny.cc/rRkcf)
As a new and developing project, this award is not only
a timely and welcome public recognition of the work we are undertaking but
the financial award of £10,000 will make a significant impact on the
service we can deliver.
The award is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of all our volunteers.
The commitment by pro bono lawyers working alongside so many other volunteers
has been fundamental in the project's development - enabling us to begin
to put into practice the vision.
The sad reality is that some of the most vulnerable people in our society
cannot access legal representation.
The boldness of so many people, prepared to take a step into the unknown
to join with a new and pioneering project is testimony to the vision and
passion for justice for the oppressed. Together we are beginning to redress
the balance and help to create hope.
Thank you so much to all those who have been involved.
