60 Years and still going strong!
Many of you will have read the article in last month's
'Together' about Browning House.
This year the House celebrates 60 years of caring for families and their
children. Initially Browning House was a Mother and Baby home, providing
a safe place for young mothers and their babies. Now, however, the work
of the house centres on parents who are facing great difficulties either
with drug and alcohol abuse, mental health problems, domestic violence
or chaotic lifestyles. It is the role of the house to enable the parents
to care for their children and to assist the Courts and Children's services
to reach decision about their long term future.
The House is constantly seeking to provide the care and assessment so
vital to the safety of the most vulnerable in our society. The latest
initiative is the formation of the Community Assessment Team, allowing
Browning House trained staff to assess families in their own homes.
In April my son Richard ran the Paris Marathon and nominated Browning
House as his charity. He trained three or four times a week in snow, rain
and horizontal sleet during the bad weather and completed his 26 miles
in under 4 hours. He decided to support a local charity and if anyone
feels they, too, can help Browning House, and Richard's efforts it is
easy to donate through his Justgiving link www.justgiving.com/Richard-Finan
All of us involved at Browning House are most grateful for all your support.
