Celebrating the 10th Birthday of the Fair Trade Mark

What were you doing 10 years ago? Were you sitting on the edge of your seat
as Brazil scooped the World Cup again? Or were you helping to make history
in a quiet way?
In March 1994 thanks to members of development agencies
such as Christian Aid, Cafod and Oxfam which set up the Fairtrade Foundation
Sainsbury's got more letters on Fairtrade than on any other issue. Convinced
they put the first product with the FAIRTRADE Mark in store - Green and
Black's Maya Gold chocolate. Today there are more than 200 retail products
which carry the FAIRTRADE Mark.
Each one of us can make a real difference. By choosing fair
trade we know that our purchase is helping to provide a decent living for
the people who grow or make the products.
