The Church Hall

September sees the schools start their new academic year and the Hall Committee thought it might be a suitable time to let you all know about the non-academic activities, both new and old, that occur weekly in our hall.

The hall is a huge building comprising 2 halls, 1 has a stage, 2 meetings rooms, 1 large and 1 small, all served by a kitchen. The halls are used every day for various activities, the meeting rooms less often, but are also available at other times for children's or adults' parties, conferences, socials. The upstairs of the building is private being rented on a permanent basis to three separate businesses, CARE in the Community, Footloose Dance Studio and Wynyards Music School. The CARE office organizes all the support for the disabled, elderly and needy of north east Leeds, Footloose dance classes, for all ages, are every evening Monday to Friday - details on their notice board. Similarly Wynyards Music School runs classes to teach various instruments as and when required.

During the week, the rooms downstairs are used for a variety of activities
Monday: daytime: Mothers and Toddlers, Socatots, evening: Watercolour lessons, Keep Fit
Tuesday: daytime: Socatots, Football (in the winter), evening: Leeds Photographic Society
Wednesday: daytime: Tumble Tots, evening: Yoga
Thursday: daytime: Keep Fit, Badminton (Oct - April), evening: Rosemary Conley Diet/Fitness, Adult Ballet
Friday: daytime: Baby Signing, afternoon through to evening: Rebel Theatre Group

You can see that the building is used almost continuously and there really is something for everyone. Monthly meeting's are also held by The Mothers' Union, The Guild of St Edmunds and other church based groups and we are fortunate to have become well established as a good centre for fund-raising activities for the NSPCC like their annual January Quiz Evenings.

So why not start something new this September - come along and learn to play the piano, or join a fitness class; learn about photography or how to rumba. It could be great fun. If you want more information do contact Daphne Tinker - Hall Booking Secretary
