Lighting the home with low energy consumption

If you want to reduce your electricity bills and your carbon emissions, but do not know your MR16s from your GU10s, or which low-energy floodlights are suitable as security lights, then this may help you.

On Tuesday June 22nd at 6pm Jon Vogler will give anyone interested a guided tour of the changes he has made to both internal and external lighting to achieve an approximately 80% reduction in lighting power consumption.

The tour will cover several matters that have proved complicated in practice, such as use of LEDs and sodium lamps for external floodlighting, replacing power greedy recessed ceiling spotlights with LED clusters, use of LEDs in place of low energy discharge lamps and lighting using a photo-voltaic (solar) panel. There have also been some failures - such as replacing picture lights - and the problems with these will be discussed.
