Coming Soon - A Farmers' Market For Roundhay
Oakwood Farmers' Market+
Saturday 15 March 2008 sees the first Farmers'
Market in Roundhay open for business. This exciting new venture will take
place at Oakwood Clock, at the junction of Roundhay Road and Princes Avenue
on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 9.00 to 12.30.
Set up on a voluntary basis by a small group of interested local residents,
it aims to provide good quality, locally sourced fresh food such as meat,
fruit and vegetables - some organic - bread, cheeses, fish, preserves, honey
and much more, including information on sustainable living - that's the
"+"! Cycling in Leeds will be the first of our information stalls
on living more sustainably, so look out for that on 15th March.
Uniquely and with the support of traders the market will be a plastic carrier-bag
free zone from day one, so do bring your own bags!

Oakwood Farmers' Market+ is the first initiative of the Roundhay Environmental
Action Project ("REAP"), who would like to thank the Ward Councillors
for supporting their bid for 'set up' funding for the Farmers' Market from
the North East (Inner) Area Committee. REAP is a newly formed organisation
established by local Roundhay residents on a voluntary basis, who are concerned
about their carbon footprint and wanting to develop a greener lifestyle.
It hopes to set up further projects, enabling people locally to live more
sustainably and is open to ideas for new initiatives. Membership is free,
so if you want to join or find out more about this inspiring new venture,
visit our website at www.roundhayaction.org.uk,
or email us on info@roundhayaction.org.uk,
or speak to us at the market.
