Prayer for Change - August 2010

Who?
(Matthew 16:13-16)

They say
He was a good man,
A great teacher,
A fascinating figure
Who inspired social action,
Works of art and architecture.
A man of compassion,
And high moral values.
That's the sort of thing
They say.
But Jesus -
Sent by his Father,
Spanning history,
Standing on the evidence
Of his life and death,
Resurrection and ascension -
Jesus,
In the power of his Spirit,
Cuts through the they and then,
To the you and now,
"But you,
What about you,
Who do you say I am, today?"
