Prayer for Change

The Prayer for Change appears simultaneously in the magazines of Lidgett Park, St Andrew's and St Edmund's.

We have worshipped at Christ's cradle,
presented our gifts to celebrate his birth.
We have seen God made visible,
and given our hearts to the Infant King.
Will we now follow the adult Jesus into the wilderness,
experiencing arid discomfort and desolation?
Lord be with us. Make us disciples.
Will we, in Lent, forgo the distractions of our oh so busy lives,
prepared to face our own self, alone and before God?
Lord be with us. Give us courage.
Will we, wrestling with our doubts, wait in the stillness to hear
the word God has for us?
Lord be with us. Teach us to wait attentively.
May we, following Jesus into the lonely place, draw nearer to the truth of who God intends us to be.
May we live that life for him.
