Prayer for Change

Winners and Losers

Our recent general election has produced more questions than answers.
Opinion is divided
What would Jesus want us to do?
The City favours one party.
They cannot go it alone.
Some see their essential savings melt away
What would Jesus have said?
There is a crisis of debt around the world
Whilst others make money from others' losses.
Jesus said, "the poor will always be with us."
Jesus your words are as true now as they were when first spoken.
We are to love our neighbour.
We ask your blessing on all who would form a Government at this time.
May it be a government of people true to your Gospel for all your people.
Women and men who can and will follow in your footsteps in all that they say and do.
Who will be leaders to all your people and not discriminate,
Aware that being poor may mean to be poor in spirit.
Lord Jesus let your Holy Spirit rest in us all.
Amen
