Prayer for Change

The Prayer for Change appears simultaneously in the magazines of Lidgett Park, St Andrew's and St Edmund's

God, whom we know as the creative force behind the universe, and yet close in love to each one of us ("the very hairs of your heard are numbered") you have granted us the stewardship of the earth and its life. May we be good stewards of your creation and face up to new situations - to meet change with strength and wisdom.

In past millennia the earth has known ice ages - mammoths, dinosaurs. Today global warming brings floods and rising sea-levels to some of us; drought and desertification to others. We pray for our brothers in these situations - urge us, Father, to show your love through practical help where we are able.

Above all, Father, change our hearts and minds, root out our self-centredness, and concern with trivialities; may your Spirit inspire and enthuse us to love you with all our heart and soul and strength, and our neighbours likewise.
