Articles - Miscellaneous
Christmas on the Website
For some time I have been monitoring the use
of the St Edmund's website (www.stedmunds.roundhay.org.uk).
December was a most interesting month and I thought some magazine readers
might like to know more.
In December the site attracted nearly 200 unique visitors who viewed 247
pages on the site. By far the most popular page was the one listing the
month's services (177 views). Astonishingly 37 people were looking for church
services on Christmas Eve. The other popular pages were the page listing
all the articles selected from the printed magazine (70 hits), the list
of forthcoming events (20 hits) and the Vicar's December letter (14 hits).
No other page registered more than 10 hits during the month.
Most visitors (68%) found the site via Google or one of the other search
engines which could imply that most visitors to the site are not regular
members of the congregation.
Details of our services are also available from another site: A Church Near
You (www.achurchnearyou.com)
which provides details of all Anglican churches in the country. In December
the St Edmund's page received 48 visits and although the highest visitor
numbers were on Christmas Eve the usage was more evenly spread throughout
the month.
Suggestions on how to give our presence on the web an even greater impact
would be most welcome.
