Summer Surprise

The Summer Surprise was a very relaxed affair with people coming and going depending on other commitments.

In the morning Jenny East provided a questionnaire which showed how easy it is to categorise people according to age. She pointed out that in the Church older people are not the problem but part of the solution providing the backbone of many church families. Mission, however, is usually directed at the young.

We then enjoyed sharing some favourite photos bringing back very happy memories and this was followed by a good lunch with the opportunity to chat to people some of whom were not members of our congregation.

After lunch some favourite poems were shared then we gave serious thought to where we were on our Christian journey and the part we play at St Edmund's and how that fits in, or not, the changing church.

The setting seemed to be a useful forum. Perhaps the idea can be extended to all the congregation whatever the age so we can look at the role each of us can play.
