WHY?
Because climate change and the care of the earth have become urgent
Because the alternative to saying and doing nothing is a recipe for despair
and disaster
Because the Church is called to be
a sign of hope
a school of wisdom
a prophetic community
FOR WHOM?
For all members of the participating churches - this is a major ecumenical
event
For people of all faiths or none
For people of all ages who care about the future of the earth

Programme of Events
Sunday, June 4th Morning worship in each church
4 pm Worship 'Event' for Everyone
Venue:- Roundhay Park
Monday, June 5th (World Environment Day)
7-30pm Speaker: Sir Martin Doughty, Chair Designate, Natural England
Theme: Climate Change
Venue:- St Andrew's Church
Displays, exhibits, etc, on climate change, energy, and trade and environment.
Tuesday, June 6th
7-30pm Debate on a practical local issue with city councillors: Recycling
or Incineration?
Venue:- St Edmund's Church
Displays, exhibits on waste/recycling and water.
Wednesday, June 7th
7-30pm Speaker: Dr John Biggs, a former President of the Baptist Union,
university lecturer, and noted Christian environmentalist

Saturday, June 10th
10-am to 12 noon Make a Sculpture From Waste
A Sculpture Competition for All Ages
Venue: Roundhay Park, Victoria Garden
Sunday, June 11th
6-30 pm United Service: Preacher Rev Jennifer Potter, (formerly national
secretary of the Methodist Church for International Affairs, including the
environment)
