Women's World Day of Prayer
Friday 7th March 2008

Prepared by the Christian women of Guyana, services in our area are as follows:-

10.30am St Stephen's Church, Cranmer Road, Leeds 17
11am Roscoe Methodist Church, Francis Street, Leeds 7
2pm St John's Church, Harrogate Road, Leeds 17
2pm St Andrew's URC, Shaftesbury Avenue, Leeds 8
2pm St Nicholas R C Church, Oakwood Lane, Leeds 9
6pm Holy Trinity Church, Boar Lane, Leeds 1

This year's theme is entitled "God's Wisdom provides New Understanding" and is largely inspired by the Book of Job. "Guyana" is an Amerindian word meaning "land of many waters" and is a country of exceptional beauty situated on the north east coastal region of South America. Culturally Guyana is Caribbean and is part of the West Indies and Georgetown, the capital city, has a vibrant character and graceful beauty also reflecting its Dutch colonial history.

Over 3 million people world wide will be taking part in this Day of Prayer that circles the globe from the sun rise worship on the Island of Tonga until sunset off the islands of Samoa. Literally all reading from this same hymn sheet, composed by the courageous women of Guyana.

Do join in this wonderful experience. All are welcome - men, women and young people - in this universal act of faith.
